Waste Wood Boilers and Processing Plant
Waste Wood Boilers
WID Compliant boilers: Under current Environment Agency regulations, it is possible to incinerate Grade A, B and C waste wood if the boiler can maintain a gas residence time of 2 seconds at at least 850°C and meet the IED chapter IV emission requirements. Myriad offer a range of Herz biomass boilers and flue gas clean up plant to do just that, and have a number of plants now operating in the UK.
Financial opportuny: The on-site incineration of 1,000’s of tonnes of waste wood removes the costs of disposing of the waste wood from site but also generates heat for other purposes, eg for drying other waste materials such as RDF, SRF, compost, wood chips, etc. A basic 1MW system will incinerate over 2,500 tonnes of waste wood per year and has been found to typically provide a saving of over £50 per tonne of wood incinerated, an annual cost reduction of £125k in waste wood disposal costs plus reduced transport and
landfill costs provided by the moisture content reduction. The system will additionally generate RHI payments of circa £200,000 per year, paid quarterly.
